Boston

Following my post from last week, I thought I would post some of the images I have taken on the streets of Boston since I moved to the City in 2011. Since I have no access to film developing and printing here in Boston, I invested in a small point and shoot digital camera for my street work. Like the Olympus I used in New York City, this camera was small and fit right into my pocket.

Boston is no where near as walker friendly as New York City, so I didn't have as many opportunities to make photographs on the streets. However, I carried the camera everywhere with me, day and night, looking for anything that caught my eye. Unlike my New York City street photographs, I focused mainly on objects I came across. I'm not sure if this is because there is less interesting things going on in Boston (it is a much slower city), or I was just curious about another subject. However I would argue that most of these images show evidence of the people of Boston.

I haven't made these types of images for a while, but I still carry the camera around with me everyday. Now that graduate school is over, I'm hoping that I can slow down a little bit to stop and make photographs of things I see out on the streets (or while driving, which I do a lot more of these days). I've come to realize that street photography is a perfect gateway to reengaging in photography, as well as keeping my eye sharp and brain curious.
